Risk Factors of Breast Cancer

A risk factor can be defined as the thing that increases the chances to develop breast cancer, but if a woman have one or several risk factors it does not mean that a woman will definitely develop it, however the risk increases such as women are at higher level of being attacked by the disease because men have the risk as well but it is lower comparatively and women have the higher risk due to the some risk factors that are natural and can’t be modified by any power of the world such as

Gender
Gender is one of the most important factors to put women at increased risk of developing cancer as the structure of breast is complicated comparatively because women breasts are made up of different types of tissues such as connective, fatty and glandular tissues so the risk to develop the abnormalities is higher.

Age
Age is a natural phenomenon that can’t be controlled by anyone and for women the increased age is the reason to increase the risk of developing cancer so older women are asked to attend breast screening when they don’t have the symptoms so that initial stage cancer can be treated effectively.

Family History
Family history puts women at higher risk of breast cancer such as if close relatives of a woman have had breast cancer or any other cancer the risk for the woman increases and in case of close relatives such as sister, mother or daughter the risk is five times higher and in case of distant relatives the risk is two times higher.

Engage the Youth in Breast Cancer Awareness Advocacy

Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast cancer has drawn the attention of everyone around the globe due to intensity of nature. It affects 1 in 8 women and the number of victims will increase in the coming years. The need of time is to spread awareness among women of all ages whether young or old. Young generation being more energetic can take essential steps to advocate breast cancer awareness among masses.

The promotion of awareness will not prevent breast cancer, but it will help to decrease death rate by detecting cancer early when it is easily treatable. The youth can raise more funds to support breast cancer care centers and individuals who are not financially strong to bear the expenses of treatment.
