It’s Not Difficult Anymore to Perform a Self Breast Examination

Self Breast examination
Breast exam means evaluating your breasts to find any changes that may become worse with time and maybe diagnosed as breast cancer. Breast screening plays a vital role in reducing death rate due to breast cancer to make early detection possible. Although like all other methods it has some limitations but the benefits can’t be overlooked.

Awareness In Relation To Breast Exam
Breast awareness is related to breast exam, breasts are intricate in nature; it’s not easy to understand the normal structure of your body. There is no standard of normal breasts because it varies from woman to woman. One feature is normal for a woman but not for others like lumpiness is normal for a woman because naturally she has lumpy breasts but abnormal for the other woman who does not have lumpy breasts naturally. Breast exam increases breast awareness because it let you know normal and abnormal features of your breasts.

Studies have shown that being breast aware is better than to be unaware because awareness means knowing your breasts in terms of structure, size and skin color etc. Getting to know how your breasts look and feel normally will help you to spot any changes sooner so you can take the necessary action. The American Cancer Society has recommended breast self-examination as part of a woman’s awareness routine. Clinical breast exam is another way to stay in tune with your breasts because a health care professional can evaluate your breasts critically to find out unusual changes. It should be started by women in their 30s.

Staying in tune with your breasts is a good habit and it should be adopted at every stage of your life because cancer does not recognize the boundary of age. Self breast examination is advised to women of all ages according to their convenience they are supposed to do it. There are no hard and fast rules but certain points like selection of a proper time in line with your menstrual cycle and the best way to feel unusual changes should be learnt by women. If you are having irregular periods it can be done any day excluding the days of periods. Menopausal women should also check their breasts and they can choose any day of the month according to their convenience.
