Breast cancer – a common Disease of Women World

Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases in the women world as it affects a number of women each year and knocks down many women to death. There are many ways which have been suggested to make early detection of the cancer probable, but unfortunately there is no way to prevent the disease completely.

A number of surveys have shown that women can play a vital role in early detection of the cancer as staying in touch with the breasts can help them to find out the abnormalities as they take place and in case of the breast cancer locating anomalies earlier mean that there are higher survival chances.

Self breast examination is recommended as one of the easiest ways to stay in contact with the breast for enlightening awareness and for catching the cancer at initial stage as it takes place. This examination is so simple and does not include any intricate system to be followed.

It involves two basic types of investigations one is based on manual and the other one is based on visual observation. Visual observation is for the changes that affect the normal size, shape, skin, texture and position of nipple as far as manual inspection is concerned with the lumps, swelling or any distinct area in the breast.

There is no specific time for this examination to be performed as it is personal choice of a woman so she can do it any time according to her convenience, but it is advised to be performed almost a week after her periods end because this is the time when breasts turn back to the normal shape and structure after temporary changes caused by the hormonal fluctuation.
